sophomore rushing

by: Help

Okay I need real brutal answers on what it's like to get into a sorority as a sophomore. I know they don't have the same chances as freshmen. I just really want to know what it's like.

You get cut heavy. Make sure everything is on. point. You need recs, perfect outfits, and to look perfect. Make several friends in each sorority now.

I rushed as a sophomore and preffed at two "top" sororities, and I know MANY other sophomores who did the same. and we're not beauty queens. the process really is based on personality/confidence, so don't sweat being a sophomore. most chapters have to fill a sophomore quota, so actually more freshmen get cut than sophomores.

At least from my chapter, we really don't care if you're an upperclassmen or not. We are told to rank you guys the same regardless of class. Granted, we can't take as many of you as freshmen so that's the only downside.

Rushing as a sophomore is not as scary as it seems. Make sure that you have a great gpa, rec letters, cute outfits, and confidence. As long as you are personable when you go into the houses most won't care that you are sophomore. Be aware that you could receive heavier cuts in the earlier rounds because of it though.

Yes, sophomores absolutely can find a great home, especially if they show up more confident and put together on Day 1 during sophomore year than they did freshman year. I have friends who re-rushed after dropping out and ended up in very selective chapters, but I have more friends who re-rushed and wound up with the same chapters or fewer on the second go round.

It is not hard for a sophomore with good grades, etc., to get a bid. It may be harder, however, to get a particular house if you have your heart set on somewhere, or if there are some houses you just wouldn't want to join. You have to be open to all options. The best advice (for anyone, but especially upperclassmen) is to be open to any sisterhood that invites you back, be willing to maximize your options and give everyone a shot. You'll have a great experience in every chapter here.
