go workout

by: healthy

I think every sorority should make gym or workout hours mandatory. NOT for the superficial, have a hot body reasons (although nothing wrong with that) but for health reasons.
It is so physically and mentally unhealthy NOT to exercise, and sororities should set the example. By doing so, the ladies will be happier, healthier, and prevent ailments later on. Have them make it a habit!

No. Everyone should exercise, yes. BUT there's too much that can go wrong with mandatory hours. I like to run 18 miles on sunday mornings at 5 am, why the hell should I be forced to go do squats at southwest that night? And of course when exams roll around that one hour is better used studying. Not to mention that the school could call that hazing and the chapter could get in trouble.

Although I do think going to the gym and working out should be part of everyone's lifestyle, that isn't my job, or anyone's job, to actively enforce.

I feel like whether it's DDD or this poster here there are a lot of non-Greeks lurking around trying to start stuff. I can just imagine it, a few "yeah we do need mandatory exercise!!" and poof, someone writes a column at The Alligator about how horrible and conformist sororities are. Anyone actually in a sorority would know why this would never work (nor should it).

This will never work because if a sorority required this it WOULD be considered hazing because it could make a member feel uncomfortable. I know that seems silly but there are so many things that sororities cannot do because the potential of it making someone feel uncomfortable.
