Thoughts for fall recruitment/rush

it's easy to come on here before coming in the fall and read the "rankings" before srat recruitment/frat rush and be like "I wanna be in abc srat/frat because they are ranked in the xyz tier." just so you all know, everyone knows or is somehow connected to everyone else in greek life, and how people feel about certain frats or sororities and their social "ranking" or "tier" is usually based on their own personal experiences with that house. of course there are some opinions that are more popular than others, and some frats are more associated with certain sororities sometimes, but don't let that stop you from finding your REAL home during recruitment. no one will judge you right away based solely on your greek house (or at least no one that should matter to you), and you will definitely make friends in other frats/sororities too during your time at UF, so find the home that you ACTUALLY feel the best in!
Each chapter has its own culture/vibe and you are ultimately looking for where you fit in the best. It’s more important to find a sense of belonging in your chapter instead of just feeling cool because of the letters. everyone parties, goes out, and meets guys/girls no matter what "tier" the sorority/fraternity is! plus people have friends everywhere, so being yourself and finding your people you will truly love spending the next 4 years with (not to mention lifetime friendships) will make greek life so much more enjoyable in the long run!

A lot of this is true but the facts are most will go thru rush first round and will want the top houses. They will say “oh I had such great conversations at xxx!” Then they will get dropped and wonder why. Well the truth is look around that house. If they are all hot, skinny blondes and your not, you probably won’t get in. It’s not about conversations but is about how you fit in. The girl rushing you probably likes you but she may see others as a better fit.
So be realistic and look around the room. Can you see yourself fitting in there?
You don’t have to be top tier to have an incredible college experience and most people at UF won’t care what tier you are in.

Some of the best truth to be told. Ignore all the hateful "noise" on this site and focus on what YOU need...trust the process and understand if you get dropped from what you might initially think is the house you want, it's not personal. There are so many girls going through the process and some houses can't take as many as others due to quotas...some houses have to cut a lot more girls in the earlier rounds while others are allowed to invite a lot more girls back. You may think a house is great until you actually go there, and you may have written off a house only to find you love the sisters there. There are a LOT of great houses and girls to meet.

Yes PNMs it’s all about you and don’t you forget that. I was out of state but went summer b and made friends with other PNMs. I heard thing about tiers etc but went in with a completely open mid. Had my mind set on a house initially (based on friends) but went elsewhere and couldn’t be happier. Most of us from summer joined different houses.

Everyone gets dropped by someone. Seriously don’t think this means that the girl rushing you did not like you. She may have really liked you but this is a competition and you are being ranked in every house and others may have fit into that chapter better. Don’t take it personally. Many end up where they are supposed to be
