sig ep is not a fraternity, it is a co-ed club

SigEp effectively uses year-round recruitment strategies to recruit the most talented, values-aligned students to our chapter. Every SigEp member understands and is so excited by the life-changing opportunities afforded through the pledge-free, substance-free, app-based Balanced Man Program that they remain in our chapter through graduation and give back as a Balanced Man volunteer an alumni. SigEp is made successful by a diverse group of volunteers, empowered to support our healthy, alcohol-free chapter experience and mentor undergraduates. Our SigEp Learning Community is unquestionably not just the best fraternity but the best student organization on campus.

The vast majority of students coming to Gainesville do not want to join Greek life. In other words, harmful stereotypes about fraternities as drinking clubs harm recruitment. At SigEp, our substance-free fraternity is a differentiating factor and is a huge competitive advantage. Our substance-free fraternity provides a support system for doing what students actually want from their college experience.

SigEp is redefining fraternity on college campuses across the country. We complement a man’s education by delivering a premier student experience in one of the most formative times of his life. Through SigEp, men strengthen their character, build leadership and interpersonal skills, and learn to develop healthy, lifelong relationships that are essential to a successful and fulfilling life. SigEp was founded with the Cardinal Principles of Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love. Our mission is “Building Balanced Men,” which is achieved through a commitment to Sound Mind and Sound Body.

Traditional ranking are toxic. SigEp tends to attract the kind of guy who wants more than a drinking club out of his fraternity. Students go to college to develop personally and professionally. Some other fraternities have facilities that house brothers in environments that harm rather than help those goals by forcing brothers to go elsewhere to study during parties. But SigEp's substance-free facility provides a very conducive environment for doing what students go to college to do.

In all honesty, if SigEp's gender inclusion effort was the sole reason a potential new member didn't want to join SigEp they likely wouldn't be a good fit for SigEp. Our Fraternity is valued partner in higher education, and great schools like LSU are now doing more to address some of the toxic hypermasculinity that was common in formerly all-male groups. SigEp wants to demonstrate clearly that our priorities lie with preparing LSU students to become confident, values based leaders.

Sig Ep is really embracing change. Their transition is worthy and admirable.
