sophomore sorority rushing q’s
by: StruggledinaclassHi, I’m going to rush in the fall as a sophomore and I was wondering what the sororities look for in a sophomore that is different than from a freshman? more specifically, do they look at gpa and how much of an impact does it have

Not in a sorority but my girlfriend went to an information session for upperclassman rush a few days ago and said that upperclassmen are put into a separate pool from the incoming freshmen, so that should make things a lot less stressful for you. As for GPA, I’d imagine it only matters up to a point, because if it’s extremely low you’ll get automatically booted by the computer system. However, there’s no way in hell they’d let other students see your private GPA during rush, so as long as your GPA makes you eligible to rush I would just make sure you have a lot of involvement and interests.

You have it entirely wrong. No one is "automatically booted by the computer system." It is against national NPC rules to require a certain GPA for pnm's to go through sorority recruitment. However, the sororities absolutely do see the GPA of each pnm because it is factored into membership selection, and the recruitment team will know it but not necessarily the entire chapter. Newsflash to 'Not in a sorority but my girlfriend went to an information session,' your "private GPA" must be disclosed to sororities and other campus organizations if you want to be considered for membership, just the same as potential employers if you want to work for them. And the GPA of every sorority member is automatically reported to panhellenic and the member's chapter every semester.
