I'm so conflicted on whether to do Alpha Phi or do Spring for another house? I just dont know if its worth it.. no hoco pairs, no house, literally starting from the bottom.......... also everyone is gonna look at alpha phi as a sorority full of people who didnt get a bid.. OPINIONS?

Did you rush during fall? Released? If the answer is yes to both then you really should go for APhi. If you do spring, you better get to know people in houses during fall. Very few bids are given and those are usually lower tier. You could wait til fall but you have missed a whole year of fun

Yes but they have a track record moving up the ranks quickly at other schools where they have recently colonized

If you want, you can still def contact your pi chis and talk about your options! Alpha phi will be hard in that starting a new chapter has a lot more difficulties and starts with very low status. I would still recommend Spring to get more variety, but up to you

If you do spring, you also still have the option of Alpha Phi as I’m sure they’ll be doing COB. At least then you can get a sense of the girls who joined Alpha Phi and still have at least some other houses that will be doing spring COB as well. Personally, I would wait for next fall recruitment.

APhi is strong across the country, particularly the Northeast, the Midwest and the West Coast.. In places that they are the new kid on the block, they leapfrog to at least mid tier within a few years.

They go in and colonize with a plan to get a house so if you’re a freshman, that could very well happen with you still there. They are a highly respected group nationally with a national reputation that is consistent across the country ever where they are: really attractive girls. That’s not a bad reputation to have.

you should consider if being one of the charter members is of interest to you. It is exciting to be part of a start up from the perspective of establishing the house from the very beginning.

It’s certainly worth a look. And no, I’m not an APhi.

I pledged a top house, but my roommate dropped after first round. She is going through the process for APhi and is really excited. A lot of pretty girls have been at the meetings. Are you sure about no hoco pairings this year? They may start at the bottom but will not stay there long. I say go for it, especially if sisterhood is what you are truly looking for. There are no guarantees for a spring bid at other houses.

Sorry to break the news to all of you but I believe some of those Hot girls were APhi from FSU, not UF.

Nope. She went to the interest meetings that are open (no invite needed) where the girls attending were all from UF. Some alums were presenting, but no FSU girls. This week the invitational rounds start, so not sure who from APhi will be at those events (prob more alums), but doubt it would be FSU girls who have class and their own social events going on rn.

As a person who tried a new sorority, i must say it was a huge disappointment. I wish i went the more traditional route. New chapter’s suck on a level you do not fully realize until you are trapped and paying for their new house that you will never get to trult enjoy, no way, it is not fun!

except a bunch of sororities are building new houses and will be out for a year or more. Sucks but it's got to be done sometime. it's not like it takes 4 years to build a house

For the houses rebuilding, yeah it's just about a year. But gamma phi has taken like 3 1/2 years for theirs to be finished. Buying and building on new land and construction has a ton more problems and longer time frame than established houses, so I would bet it'll take longer than the two years Alpha Phi is telling everyone. Gamma phi literally said the exact same thing and are just now coming close to it. Sucks for older membs or girls who thought they'd have it before they'd graduate, nationals will say anything to lure girls in
