ranking of dry frat houses

by:

Hey, it’s time to start a ranking of the frats that are already or soon-to-be alcohol-free:

Top tier: Beta
Mid tier: SigEp

Does anyone else think Beta will take a dive when their new alcohol prohibition kicks in? No fun!!\n\n\n\n\n

Beta and SigEp will probably merge in order to survive. Or else force all of the other frats to become dry too

Drink, chugalug! Drink chugalug! Frats are going to beer and wine to stop lightweights from hurting themselves on shots, but no college could withstand the alumni reaction from a full ban. Prohibition didn’t work 90 years ago. Drinking is living! Beta is dead!

Ok, then the ranking of dry houses goes:

Phi Delt
Beta
Sig Ep

Off campus parties aren’t as much fun because they are harder to get to and are usually in rental houses in sketchy areas. The members who rent the houses are taking a lot of risk, which they probably don’t understand.

I heard that the Beta alcohol ban is going to be both at the house and at Beta "events". If that's true, they can't just go off campus to party. Any party that is mostly Betas would be hit. The parents of the Penn State pledge who died wanted to get alcohol out of the fraternity. (Too bad for all of us that those parents didn't teach their son not to drink too much.)

A total misunderstanding and twisting of facts about the SigEp's new substance-free housing policy. We have a lot of our events at off-campus venues and our guests feel much safer than they do at stereotypical fraternity parties. These events are also more fun for brothers of all ages than typical fraternity house parties.

I've always felt safe at "stereotypical fraternity parties", and I've always had fun. But, maybe we hold different stereotypes in mind; I only go to parties at well respected fraternities.

Yeah, that's right Sig Ep. Heard you played Pin the Tail on the Donkey at your last party.

Unfortunately, fraternities today have earned a reputation of being organizations that exist to promote alcohol consumption. Fraternities known in the media and on campus communities as havens for drinking. That is why SigEp brothers took a bold step toward bringing that reputation to an end by voting to remove alcohol and illicit substances from our chapter facility in Gainesville and across the nation. This policy shift allows SigEp brothers to focus our energies on things that truly matter to our fraternity.

SigEp, I respect your wholesome approach to life, but, after the tedium of studying all week, I like to be young, silly, and happy on weekends. And I like going to frat parties with fun guys, music, and a couple drinks. Apparently, that's pretty much been the approach to life for generations before us, and it's not all bad.
