Dirty rush is when sororities start rushing before rush starts. In other words, they are working on certain pnm's to convince them to choose their house during rush. In can include bid promising, but can also mean taking pnm's out to meals or parties or texting or other forms of contact. If they get caught, the entire sorority will be fined or even put on probation. Pnm's aren't culpable for dirty rushing so they aren't punished, but if word gets out that a pnm was being dirty rushed by a certain house and was all in with it then other houses will think the pnm is not interested in them and will cut her. Pnm's who think they are being dirty rushed should contact panhellenic.

Panhel considers many things to be dirty rushing, so it's best to limit your contact with actives before recruitment, and during recruitment only talk to actives during the parties themselves, not outside. You won't get in trouble because it's not your responsibility as a PNM, but as has been said before, other chapters may cut you if they think you only want one house. I've seen chapters fined for commenting on girls' instagrams, for hugging them outside recruitment parties, and for hotboxing PNMs. So if an active you know starts ignoring you right before recruitment, don't take it personally, they just don't want to be responsible for hurting their house.
