rushing as a sophomore/junior
by: gdiI’m currently not in a sorority and was thinking about rushing and was wondering if anyone has any experience rushing as a sophomore/junior especially if you’ve rushed before. What would my chances be of joining a house that a lot of my friends are in (for example my 5 closest friends are all in the same sorority)? Also would i be more/less likely to get a bid from a higher tier, and would have previously rushing and dropping effect any of this? thanks!

Chances are high. I rushed as a sophomore and personally felt like there was more to talk about with the people rushing you because you both have something in common which is UF, which allowed me to make more connections and therefore i had a good experience. You have a chance of getting whatever sorority you connect the most with, because everyone who is not a freshman is placed in a different pool than them (so you are not competing with freshman). Also there is a decent chance that your friends will have good things to say about you to their sisters so that may increase your chance but there is no guarantee.

Most sophomores have a much easier time rushing than the freshman. If you have 5 friends in the same house you’re almost guaranteed a bid unless they all happen to be on bad standing (highly unlikely but possible) I joined as a sophomore and I love it but one thing I noticed as you get further into your experience is the girls who join as freshmen tend to be very highschool-cliquey so try to become friends with your PC but just know that may happen and don’t be afraid to hang out with older PCs

I rushed as a sophomore and it was the best decision! I got into the house I wanted to and preffed at my top three houses. I wouldn't say being a sophomore affects your chances at a top tier house at all. Conversations are much easier since you've been on campus and you have a chance of being more memorable to the girl rushing you. Good luck!
