christian sororities

by:

I'm wondering if anyone has insight and/or experience with either of the Christian sororities- Theta Alpha and Sigma Phi Lambda? How are the two different? Are both or either of these super strict? Like will I get judged if I go to a party and drink every once in a while? I know this site is primarily for Panhellenic and IFC but I'm not sure where else to go! Thanks!

I think Theta Alpha is better, but don't expect to party a lot/hang out with ifc fraternities. The Christian Greek life community tends to keep to itself and is strict with drinking

Theta Alpha is much bigger than phi lamb. They are both certainly a mix and are not as well organized as the Panhellenic sororities, however; you will still more than likely make some great friends there! Also if you decide to do Panhellenic rush, look into Doulos, it's a group for Greek Christians and essentially allows you to have the Christian community of Theta Alpha and Phi Lamb, but with Panhellenic letters. Hope this helps.

Very strict with drinking. My roommate could not drink and felt guilty if she did in theta alpha. I think she liked the experience as a whole though

I am not in either but I feel like I know a fair amount from my friends in them. From what I know, both of them have a strict no alcohol policy for underage members. Theta Alpha is much bigger and more similar with aspects to a sorority. I think if you want more a sorority feel, join Theta Alpha or if you want a small Christian group, join Sigma Phi Lambda. Anyone I know in them has really loved it so it just depends on what you are looking for.

Hey, I found this great new devotional book on Amazon if any of you are looking. It's called Take5forHIM: One-Year Devotionals for Young Women. It's an incredible book that relates to what we go through daily plus a lot of teaching.

I do not like theta alpha at all. I joined a pan house( yes we have a house) , and I pay dues too. We have lot of Christian girls in the house and they occasional drink. We do not judge our sisters like Theta Alpa does.
