question about rushing

by: PNM

So I feel kind of weird writing this but I’m disabled and I’m rushing this semester. How open would sororities be to me? I just don’t think I’d fit in. And I’m just afraid I’ll be disqualified or something.

What’s your disability? Sadly some sororities focus primarily on looks... Not grades, personality, or anything else, BUT there are sororities that will 100% love you and accept you

I’m hard of hearing and I have a slight physical disability/slight limp. That sounds pretty shallow though. Maybe I should rush after all... :/

Definitely rush. You may want to contact panhellenic prior to recruitment and talk to them, they will help you feel very comfortable. It also may be hard to hear in the room when talking to girls since there are 100 conversations going on at the same time, so that’s why you should talk to panhellenic. Go through, you’ll only get dropped if you are rude, act/look like you don’t want to be there, etc.

Hi, PNM! First, I'm super happy you decided to rush and I truly hope you find your home. I think all of the sororities here have genuine, accepting girls. I'm honestly not sure about other sororities processes for choosing new members and who to give bids to, as that is very secretive. Personally I think most sororities prejudge girls based on their applications and come recruitment they base a lot of it off of what you do/did in high school, your grades, and your ability to have a good conversation. Hopefully nobody "disqualifies" you for something like that. Good luck!
