greek housing

by: In favor of

Are the Greek councils at UNF going to join forces since UNF is talking about expanding housing on campus again. (UNF Spinnaker Sept 27, 2016 Community/Features sections Article title End of first-year housing requirement looks to benefit students, as UNF officials eye housing expansion, A quote in the article by Vice President Chief of Staff Tom Serwatka "Land near the Fountains is the likely site for expansion, though Serwatka added all the details are subject to change.,"

Let's band together(at minimum Panhellenic and IFC Chapters)and work to create a Greek village of some sort (Look at what Auburn and the University of British Columbia have without Greek houses) not the plan that university had which required 12 month commitments in a village north of the stadiums. We NEED dedicated meeting rooms for chapter meetings, storage for ritual, and a common area to relax and socialize with out Greek brothers and sisters. Having AT MINIMUM dedicated meeting rooms and common areas for each chapter will provide more flexibility for our chapters, provide better cohesiveness among members, and a better rush for Panhellenic chapters. The university can build additional parking UNDER (or OVER) the building AND create retail spaces on the ground floors of each building (look at new apartments going in Gainesville which will have a small Target and Publix/Publix sub shop and the University of Arkansas with a small ON CAMPUS WalMart with items most frequently purchased by students.

I like the idea of having our own building/rooms at least so I have a place to go hangout/study between classes and hang our composites and stuff.
