Is there any pressure to drink in a sorority?

By: Drinking
by: .

The opportunity to drink is definitely there if you’re looking for that, but I would say overall the women of panhel are super loving and accepting and are not the type of people that would pressure you to do things if you aren’t comfortable. There are plenty of women in panhel who don’t really drink or go out at all. Like in any friendship, if they’re good friends to you they wouldn’t pressure you to do things you aren’t comfortable doing!

The culture around drinking varies from organization to organization, there are some orgs where drinking is a huge part of the experience (especially as a new member) and some where it’s totally normal for you not to drink.

what’s work week?

By: q
by: .

Work week is the time leading of to the start of recruitment when active sorority members who are taking part in recruitment get together to prepare for recruitment. It usually involves a lot of bonding activities, discussions about what the sorority is looking for when recruiting new members, and practicing all of the organizational aspects of recruitment to help it go as smoothly as possible.

Do any sororities haze?

By: Nyu
by: <3

No. The only sorority that has a reputation for that is DPhiE but they’d argue what they do isn’t hazing. You’ll find that sororities actually do so much to make their new members feel welcomed, supported and loved!

Do any of the BIPOC women feel like they’re being praised as a token?

By: nervy
by: tbh

As a BIPOC i feel like it's been pretty mixed. I have a lot of friends in the chapter that really appreciate me for who i am, but there are people who don't know me as well who i feel like see me as just a diversity member and use me to prove a point about diversity. But, i've also felt that way in a lot of other environments as well. I wouldn't say it's substantially better or worse in my org than it's been elsewhere.

what is the range of dues between aephi, zta and dphie?

By: dues
by: dues

Dphie is cheaper because you pay for formals and date parties individually. Zeta includes date parties, formals, and apparel in their dues. I think aephi does the same but unsure. Obvi dues are going to be super different this sem.

^^^ but also with dues please keep in mind that they WILL shoot up once things change and there are in person events so don’t be pulled in by the cheap dues - ask what their regular dues are

are sororities actually as diverse as some of their instagrams make it seem? kappa, alpha sigma tau, dg and to some extent delta phi epsilon seem pretty diverse but is that just a front for social media?

I mean yes, in the sense that those girls are in the chapter but they may not necessarily be super involved/active in the chapter

Also, keep in mind that a lot of sororities tend to post the same girls over and over again on their instagram

the girls that get posted on the sorority instas are usually the ones who post the most frequently on their personal instas, or the ones who submit their own photos to the org’s social media person often. a lot of it also has to do with which pics fit the theme of the sorority insta.
