penthouses

I understand that NYU sororities have penthouses at lafayette, but I don't understand who is in which penthouse and how its decided what chapter gets which penthouse. Can someone explain? Why isn't it just the same every year? Do fraternites or other organizations also have penthouses?

Not sure how it's decided, but each sorority has the opportunity to have a penthouse each year, and it's up to them to choose which girls live in it. I don't think any frats have chosen to have one in a while.

It’s based on an application that’s sent to the ppl in charge of Greek life. The application is all about community involvement, philanthropy, sisterhood, etc. The org with the best gets the biggest penthouse

penthouses don't really matter tbh. only a few girls can live in it so not really like a typical sorority house or anything. plus they're all the way in laf

The biggest penthouse fits 7 people and it's usually more of a favor to the org to live in the house than it is a privilege. You couldn't pay most sisters to live there. But it's chosen based on who puts the most effort in the application and the actual numbers mentioned above (philanthropy, community involvement, etc.). They really only come in handy for sisterhood events.
