I can afford to take a real trip, I don't need to engage in Cultural Tourism/ Colonialism and objectify poor children of color and pretend I'm doing it to "close the achievement gap." I'm not a tool - I got a real job. If I wanted to be a teacher, I'd go to real training.

I would think long and hard before joining Teach For America. They are a really sketchy group for a whole bunch of reasons. They hide behind this whole "close the achievement gap" thing, but that isn't what they are about at all. They really are about exploitation on a lot of different levels. Some people even call them a cult. Be careful. There are other opportunities out there. Don't be fooled

What is wrong with warning fellow future graduates about shady organization? I'm all about community service. I just don't think Teach for America and it's creepieness is a good idea and don't want my degree belittled
