Don't worry, they'll figure that out soon enough!

Just remember most have gpa standards. if you are not meeting your gpa there could be standards about study nights. dont worry you wont be alone. lol.

They might like you enough that they are willing to overlook the gpa thing (in my opinion your gpa is nobodies business but yours). It might be that they didn't get as many girls back as that wanted so they are desperate. Who knows? In any case, all you can do is wait.

This probably means that they really like you (which is great!) and are willing to overlook the gpa. However, if you recieve and accept a bid from them you may not be able to participate in some member activities like socials or formal due to your "academic delinquent" status. This may not be true for every chapter. Don't let this influence your decision too much. I'm positive they will have things figured out for you. If it feels like the right fit, go with it.

Why would someone join a sorority where they are paying dues and can't go to formals and socials and functions? That is ridiculous. If you pay, you should be able to go. Your GPA is NONE of your Sorority's business!

Because school come first. If a girl's GPA isn't up to the requirement (at least in my sorority), we set up study tables and plans and things to help the girls. If you're neglecting your grades and other important values, then that should be your focus. Not social functions. They can still go to everything else, but it's generally just social functions that are restricted. And not only that, but it also reflects poorly on the sorority as a whole. Would you respect an organization if you thought they didn't care about academics and thought everything was one big party?

It's just something to consider. If it's the sorority you feel that you like the most, maybe that's a fine trade off for just the first semester. It's not that the sorority is trying to punish you. These guidelines are set in place so you have a balance between your social life and your academics. And it IS the sorority's business because what you do reflects upon them. Paying your dues does not buy you a free pass, you have to prove that you can handle your academic responsibilities before you're given new social ones.

So if a should lose a little weight, does the sorority put me on food probation and weigh me in every week? I mean my weight does "reflect on the sorority."

That's a ridiculous comparison and you know it. Schools have minimum GPA requirements, athletics have minimum GPA requirements, and so does Greek life. The "pillars" of Greek life include scholarship and service, so of course there would be a grade component of being a member. And it's not like they're saying a girl is stupid. They're trying to help her improve her GPA so she is more competitive for jobs, internships, etc. I love having the academic push from my sorority that makes me want to do better
