I heard a rumor that Gamma Phi was invited but the school hasn't given permission yet for expansion

Essentially, that is what happened. Greek life as a whole listened to the presentations of the three sororities invited and decided on Gamma Phi Beta as the new sorority that would be welcomed into the Greek community pending administrative approval. The issue is that the administrative approval is still pending, and in Belmont's now-infamous Town Hall Meeting, President Fisher's statement about expansion showed no signs of allowing it to move forward any time soon.
