by: scared now..So I plan on coming here next year from pretty far out of state and I’m getting really scared by all this talk about getting dropped by every single house. How likely is it to be dropped by so many houses? I have excellent grades and involvement and things like that, but I don’t know if that’ll be enough to not get cut... :( I know I’ll for sure get cut by some, but how likely is it that I can keep at least half of the maximum number per round? Thanks for any help..

people are trying to freak you out in the comments lol, rush is stressful but you have a great chance of making friends and finding a house right for you :) There is a place for everyone and even if you get cut out of rush, some houses do a thing called snap bidding (they'll call you on bid day and offer you a bid) or you can do continuous open bidding or (COB) and attend a few events and a chapter may offer you a bid! Either way your self worth isn't determined if you get in a house or not!

93% of PNM’s got bids yesterday. About 150 either withdrew from rush, were released with no invitations to the next round, or suicided and didn’t get the house they wanted.
The reality is that very few OOS PNM’s with no connections will come here any have anything close to a “perfect” rush. If you’re open minded to a bid from ANY chapters and can keep your head high and your heart open with deep cuts, you’ll most likely find your home during rush. Most PNM’s do not have full party invitations after Open House. Many do get cut by all but a few houses immediately. It only takes one house to see something in you that they believe is perfect for their sisterhood.
But no guarantees until you get invited to Pref. Then you’re guaranteed a bid as long as you list both houses on your Pref card.

I am from a small town in California and made it through recruitment so do not be scared away quite yet. Didn’t know a single soul and my first time in Arkansas was move in day. I think my high school gpa and extra curricular activities saved me in recruitment. I’m not nearly as good looking as the other girls and also on the curvier side. Also I was able to find a alumnae group in my city that helped me prepare packets for the chapters. Rush was difficult but if you genuinely sell yourself to these chapters you potentially will make it far! Best of luck to you :)
