rushing twice

by:

I rushed last year and it was something I decided to do really last minute. I wasn't happy with the houses I had towards the 3rd round. I was trying to keep an open mind so i stayed until i got a bit. Unforchuantly I didn't really feel like I was at home with that house so I dropped before I was initiated. I know I am eligible to rush again my sophomore year and is something I want to do. I just want to know if it shows up that I had previously got a bid the year before to all the chapters when i rush again? I know that might look bad that I previously rushed .I really want to be in a sorority so any advice in rushing my second time.

First hun,
Learn to spell.
Second, you need to see what kind of a woman you want to be before rushing. If you go in expecting a certain house to give u a bid you will most likely not get it. Go in with an open mind and just get what you get. It sounds like you just want to be in a sorority anyways so beggars cant be too picky.
Goodluck.

The poster put "Unforchuantly" lmao, how did she even pass 5th grade let alone get into college. No wonder ASU is such a garbage college, they accept people who can't even spell a 5th grade word correctly

You will answer a question that says “have you joined a sorority?”. Pick yes because if you say no and we find out differently you’ll be dropped.

I was planning on saying yes because I didn't want to lie and like you said get dropped. I was curious as to if they know ahead of time if I had already received a bid the previous year?

Will sororities care if I was in a bottom house before and dropped before initiation??

I just want to give you the truth. Your status will come up. Your name is already in the system. People you rushed with last year are in all houses and know your story. You can try to explain your side but more than likely you will be cut from chapters. We honestly see situations like this as a lack of commitment and loyalty no matter which house you were in. To us your situation also looks like you didn't have everything together then and we assume you probably do not now, however accurate or inaccurate that is.

I want to wish you luck but want you to be realistic with your expectations.

Thanks for your honest answer. So do you think it’s even possible for me to get into a top house then, or no? Which houses will even give me a bid-or will all houses drop me?

Also, is it even worth it to go through formal rush in the fall? Or should I do informal recruitment? Or not rush at all? Sorry I’m asking so many questions, I just want to know if it’s even worth it to rush or if all the houses will treat me coldly or just cut me because of my situation.

Top, bottom, blah blah blah. These categories only mean something in college and have more to do with looks/wealth than anything else. Aka, a sorority's popularity status doesn't matter! Being in a sorority matters. You're obviously going through recruitment for all the wrong reasons. If you're looking for a sisterhood, go through recruitment. If you want to be ABC because everyone says how "hot" they are, don't. Sororities are for life and can help you beyond college. Besides, who wants to be part of an organization who didn't want you?

If you already rushed, and dropped a chapter, you will most like have already put a bad taste in your Pledge Class's minds. Now, these are the girls that are recruiting you. It comes across like you can't commit to anything, which is not a great quality because most sororities require weekly to bi-weekly commitments that are 100% mandatory. We don't look for girls who are just trying to put a sorority name in their Instagram bio. We're looking for women that can commit to 200 strangers and works hard in school, professionally, and socially. Don't throw yourself a pity party, and don't lie that you haven't rushed. I recommend COB'ing into a chapter - ask a RhoGam about each chapter's COB process.

Just an FYI- if a chapter dropped you before, they dropped you for a reason. And more than likely they will drop you for that same reason again

EVERY SINGLE GIRL I KNOW WHO DROPPED A HOUSE AND RERUSHED ENDED UP EITHER GETTING DROPPED FROM EVERYONE OR DROPPING BECAUSE THEY DONT LIKE THE HOUSES THEY HAVE LEFT.
We had a couple girls who we gave bids to in the past come through recently and non of them made it to bid day

PNMs, THIS is why when you are going through rush you should STICK WITH IT. No one WANTS to be there but if you drop out once you will get LOWER houses the next time you rush. You will never magically get a top-tier bid. Work your ass off, go through all of recruitment with a smile on your face, be presentable and talk about your interests. BY ALL MEANS, TRY TO NOT DROP RECRUITMENT! It will be 110% worse trying to re-rush or COB into a chapter. It is not the same as getting into a Fall pledge class. Just! Stick! With! It!

I dropped after only getting to round 2, will I have a good chance or it does not matter?

It probably won't affect you - keep an open mind and work your ass off until recruitment (social media, summer classes, workouts, clear skin, conversation starters, etc)

If you don't like something in the sororities that you have left, realize that you can be the change. Get a leadership role and work to make your sisterhood the one you always dreamed of. Don't just look at who is already in the sorority but your pledge class. Also, in a group of 200 girls, don't expect to be best friends with every single one of them. You'll find your people. If you have an invitation back it's for a reason - and doesn't it feel good to be wanted? There are girls who don't get invited back at all...ouch.
