how much will dues/other expenses be in the end

In joining a fraternity or sorority how much will dues as well as the added random costs of the first semester end up being? And just wondering if it's worth it as well as how to let my parents know in a way they'd maybe be willing to help with dues and everything cause as of rn I have no clue what dues pay for or do at all

Like we don't pay for the upper class men's rent do we cause that wouldn't make sense if they lived for free in the house cause we pay

We dont have houses. If you live in the school sponsored dorms/apartments, you pay your own rent directly to the school. Dues are completely separate and a list of sorority dues is in the recruitment handbook.

My fraternity charges new members I believe around 1000 and actives 800 per semester in dues, I recall during rushing most of the other respectable fraternities having dues around the same amount, not sure about sororities though..

Everybodys dues are around 800-100o for actives and 1000-1200 for pledges. If a fraternities dues aren't already on the higher end around 1000 expect them to go up that high because with greek housing insurance is gonna eat some of your budget
