sorority gpa

by:

I have below a 3.0 and I'm worried I won't be able to get a house with that gpa. If I took some classes at a community college over the summer do you think the sororities will look at those instead of my high school gpa?

All top houses have a GPA requirement around 3.0, and if they do make an exception, it's for someone they know incredibly well/there were certain circumstances for a low GPA. Word of advice: wait a year of university before going through recruitment to get your head on straight. If you didn't do too hot in high school, and even if you do get into a sorority you love, you'll only have a semester or two to even be in it because you'll be dropping out and headed home QUICK.

Basically every house is 3.0 not just "top" houses. I don't know about KD & APhi & ADPi & DZ

It is pretty important and it is the easiest cut to make. You just have to be super fun, pretty, nice, friendly, athletic, social, artistic, basically everything to make up for it.

a girl i went through rush with who is drop dead gorgeous had a 2.75 gpa and got dropped by everyone first round but kd and agd. so if even adpi cut her, yes gpa matters

I know a couple sororities ask for a 3.33 coming out of high school. So unless you're a phenomenal person, I would suggest waiting.

Generally college gpa is one point lower then high school. So if you are entering college with a 2.75 waiting might not help as you will likely do worse. If you care about getting through college perhaps a sorority is not for you. It really adds a lot to your schedule - other than the "fun" things - like formals. You will spend a few hours a week in meetings etc, especially your first semester, and this will take away from your study time.
