insight on asu sorority rush

by:

I'm planning on rushing this spring and hope to find a high rank sorority to call home. I hate to sound superficial but I know that in the south it is harder to fit into a high rank sorority in you don't look the part (tall blonde blue eyes etc). So what's it like at ASU?

Not at all. Spring rush here is so chill & layback. Here we really don't care about that whole Barbie look. I don't know who is doing spring yet but not every house does. I know KD, AGD, SK, & Kappa are but I have no clue about the rest.

So are the outfits pretty dresses and how do they go about it? Do they just have little parties? When does it start?

I don't know when it starts but it is pretty close to the start of the semester. It is similar to fraternity rush. We just have little parties. Sororities usually wear dresses and heals and full makeup and hair.

High ranking sororities don't do spring rush

by: Every sorority

It depends if the higher ranked sororities have had new members drop or had seniors graduate in December they too will participate in Spring rush.

High ranking sororities usually don't have a lot of girls drop. They take the time during spring rush to focus on what's actually important, which is formal recruitment in the fall. If you want a real opportunity to join a high ranking sorority, do fall rush. A lot of the 'better' sororities only do spring COB, which is all about knowing girls already in the sorority

just because a sorority is "high ranking" here doesn't mean they have good retention. There are houses with pretty girls who have horrible sisterhoods, which makes girls drop. The only difference is some sororities (SK, AGD, KKG, KD) are more public about it, whereas others keep it downlow (aka COB, like you mentioned). It definitely helps to know girls in those houses before, and you need to get in touch with them ASAP to make sure you don't miss any of the events

Just finished Fall rush 2018 and the process is broken. Saw girls with low GPAs get into houses claiming that grades were a really important criteria . Don’t know how the point system works but it clearly overlooks and mismatched a decent portion of quality girls leaving them crushed.
Not a great way for freshman to start college feeling rejected and superficially judged by girls who make you submit a resume then give spots based purely on looks. I decided to drop before preference when some of my best friends great girls lots to offer didn’t move forward . Pretty smart fun girls - the process works we were told and it doesn’t work

So you feel you deserved to get in a top sorority? Well, so does every other girl that went thru recruitment. Don’t know what you expected, but the entire process is based on judging you, and rejection. There are plenty of girls who are not what you would consider that attractive that make it into top sororitys. If you didn’t get into the sorority you felt you deserved it was for a reason. EVERY single girl that went thru was discussed each round individually. It isn’t a “point system” . It is not just about gpa, or just about looks, it is about the person and how well they fit in. The process does work sweetheart, and has for years, and will for many more.

Get over yourself, there are 1,500 girls and you aren't special. If you were, you would have shown it. It is a privilege to be in a sorority, and we don't need to be forced to take in ungrateful brats that think they are all deserving. Until you're on the other side, you will have no idea what it takes.

Aphi and DZ will probably do it, because all of their girls drop after joining.
