off campus fraternities?
by: virginiai’m planning on rushing in the fall and was wondering about TKE, ATO, and PBX. are they worth checking out? and if so, which one would you say is good.

If you rush off campus u can never put it on ur resume for anything so u really need to be affiliated with other things if u want to have a decent resume. Otherwise their fine but ur only paying to party whereas on campus fraternities u get all the benefits associated with nationals like alumni and leadership

off campus fraternity have leadership offers. The post is such a lie, the alumini factor doesn’t matter. Anyone who knows anything post grad knows that your resume looks WORSE when you put a fraternity. I worked for a hiring manager at a bank when I was interning. They would immediately throw out resumes that have a fraternity listed. Don’t give advice on something you don’t know anything about.

honestly, all the hate against off campus fraternities is generated by the IFC and other guys in frats. ATO is honestly one of the best fraternities at JMU even though they are off campus. PBX has a good basement and pretty laid back guys. all 3 of the off campus fraternities have genuine guys instead of the typical PIKE or Sig Nu type of douchebag. As someone who has been to a lot of frats, the off campus ones aren’t far off half the other fraternities. take this how you will, just know they are off campus for a reason but don’t let that stop you from just checking them out.

if someone hires you because you were in the same fraternity. You probably don't want to be working at the company. The Fraternity you are in is going have 0 impact on your job offers, unless you were president or something that shows leadership skills. Whoever wrote this is in for a rude awakening post grad when you realize that alumni benefits don't actually exist, they only exist for you to donate your hard earned money.
