Fall 2020 rankings

Coming into the fall, I think rankings are looking pretty close to this:
Top: penne, fettuccini
Upper middle: elbows, spaghetti
Middle: ravioli, bow ties
Lower middle: shells, rotini
Bottom: ziti, lasagna noodles

Penne is a fan favorite and has a strong hold up top because of their versatility and ease while eating them. Fettuccini is a far second just because some people find them messy when eating. The messy factor also goes for spaghetti, which is why they’re behind elbows. Elbows are classic and versatile so they keep pretty steady in upper middle. Ravioli and bow ties fit specific moods when eating pasta so they aren’t as popular, but still super delish. Ravioli is higher than bow ties just because they always have a little extra to them on the inside. Shells and rotini have great sauce-carrying capacity and make for some epic pasta dishes, but these shapes just aren’t as popular, so not a ton of people buy them. Shells are defiantly on the rise though, especially in Mac n’ cheese dishes. Finally, ziti and lasagna noodle rely too much on other ingredients to complete their beat dish so they’re at the bottom.
