legacy

I am a legacy to one of the top sororities. However I don’t look like most of the girls in this sorority. What are my chances? How important is being a legacy?

Also do other sororities know you’re a legacy when you go through rush? If so does that affect your chances?

Yes they will know you’re a legacy and for most it’ll get you through basement rounds.

a lot of legacy statuses won’t matter past basement round but not every chapter will be aware of your legacy status and it won’t matter unless it’s all you talk about

Most sororities will pass you through the first round if you are one of their legacies. However, my big was a double legacy in one of the other sororities and was not invited back because she didn’t look like the other girls in the sorority (or so she thinks). Being a legacy is NOT a guarantee that you will get a bid.

being a legacy does totally matter and increase your chances of getting a bid from that sorority especially for the first few rounds. BUT if you don't feel like you fit in with the girls then do not rank that sorority high on your list even if you consider it "one of the top" ones.. you'll be much happier if you end up where you actually belong with girls you can relate to and fit in really well with !!! also sometimes girls will make fun of you if they think you only got a bid because your a legacy which would prob suck

Good question...I know girls in top sororities that got in ONLY because they are legacies. And they know that’s why they got in which is sad. Especially if you get dropped by mid and lower tier sororities but are still getting asked back to a top one. So I do think you’ll get a bid unless you mess up somehow

What about if you are a legacy and don't put it down? Does that happen?

By: ?
by: yes

my big was a legacy for a top house and didnt put it down, just means that people won’t know youre a legacy and you won’t have that advantage in your legacy house. The house she was a legacy for doesnt really care about legacy status unless you are an “in house” legacy aka you currently have a sister in that chapter

So, being a legacy really doesn't matter. It'll get you past the first round, but that's it? Is that correct? Man, that will stink to get dropped. I guess that happens a lot? I'm new to this.

some chapters have different policies on this. For certain chapters, it’s very hard to be dropped as a legacy but for others they won’t care. I know an in house legacy that got dropped from zta 2nd round

ASA doesn’t take their legacy’s unless you fit the mold. I know so many girls over the years who got dropped after the first night by ASA who were legacy’s. Tri Delta takes them if you have a connection, like a sister went to JMU.
