asking for advice :(
by: nervous dukeI'm a sophomore at JMU and I'm rushing this fall. Is it true that sophomores have a harder time getting a bid from sororities? Also, can someone please explain the recruitment process? I'm so confused :(
#2by: hi
so recruitment is a mutual selection process but I would say most sororities have more control than the pnm's do.
during orientation you will get a rho gamma which is a girl who has disaffiliated with her own sorority to help you and a group of other girls find your home. This girl will be your guide throughout the whole recruitment process.
the first rounds you will be recieving a tshirt and you will go to all 12 houses in two days, each party is like 30 minutes so you will only be able to have short conversations.
the next round is philanthropy round where girls showcase their philanthropies and you get to wear your own outfit, you will most likely sit and watch a video then go up to the rooms and chat with the girls.
the next round is sisterhood round where you will either watch a video or a skit and then you will go up into the rooms again and talk to more girls this round is longer than the last.
the last round is pref night where you dress fancy and you only have 2 houses it is very serious and can be emotional and most sororities will do a ritual ceremony then have you talk to one girl the rest of the time.
then its bid day!
hope that was a good overview.
