Delta Upsilon - ΔΥ Fraternity at James Madison University - JMU 5.0 Beta Theta Pi (ΒΘΠ) was founded on August 8, 1839, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, by eight men known as the “Immortal Eight,” including John Reily Knox and Samuel Taylor Marshall. As the first fraternity established west of the Alleghenies, Beta Theta Pi quickly expanded, becoming one of the earliest national fraternities. Known for its commitment to intellectual growth, mutual assistance, integrity, and responsible conduct, Beta was also the first fraternity to publish an open constitution in 1879, emphasizing transparency. With over 140 active chapters today, Beta Theta Pi continues to develop men of principle while maintaining a strong tradition of leadership and service. Notable alumni include John Wooden, Sam Walton, and Bill Bowerman.

The guys are super chill, always down to have a good time, but they also know how to get stuff done. Everyone’s super involved, and they actually care about the brotherhood. Plus, they’re always killing it at events now making a name on campus.
