transferring from texas

by: TXtransfer

I'm thinking of from Texas A&M, since I am originally from CA and was considering rushing at USCB. Rushing in the south is pretty cutthroat and I just wanted to know how rush is in CA? And if juniors could have a good shot at getting a bid?

Some houses don't accept juniors except on VEEEERY special occasions (DG, APhi, Pi Phi, Theta). Rush at UCSB is nothing like it is in the south; but the top houses are still pretty selective. Fall rush can get overwhelming for some girls, so if that's the case, you could always try in spring.

UCSB is not cutthroat like in the south. However, the houses here are very selective and if you are not a freshman, it is really difficult to get a bid to many houses (especially for juniors). Some houses will only take freshmen. Rush anyways! There are still great houses that I'm sure would love to have you!

Many houses do take juniors. I rushed as a junior and got the house I wanted and where I feel chill. You might not get one of the "super social" houses, but you will get something that you like. Keep an open mind.
