rushing stereotypes

by:

So I am a girl rushing who is overweight and nervous about being judged or not excepted even though my gpa is over 3.2 and I played sports. I'm wondering if i will be treated differently because of my weight and Just want to genuinely have that college experience. I dont know if the stereotypes are real or not since every sorority girl I have seen is super skinny and gorgeous.

We're probably all judged on our appearances somewhat. Just embrace the size you are and dress yourself appropriately. Get some help at the store if you need to to figure out what flatters you and what emphasizes your less than your best features. Make sure you have good hair and make up and let your personality do the rest. At least then you'll be accepted for yourself which is what you want in a sisterhood.

As a Pi Phi, I can tell you that we are the best sorority in the entire nation. ALL ELSE ARE IRRELEVANT. RING CHING HOE.

Wish I could hug you right now, sweet girl. I went through a similar experience during rush, except mine was with my scars. I have a lot of them from past experiences, and thought I wasn't going to get into any house due to them. But, I was myself during rush and I got into the house of my first choice! There is always going to be someone out there who will judge you based on how you look, and that's just something you can't change. Sure, being thin is helpful but personality is MUCH more important. Most houses will pay attention to personality and what you have the potential to bring to their chapter/vice versa, anyways. Each house has girls that range in sizes, so try not to worry about it too much. Head into recruitment with an open, positive mind and don't forget to be yourself and be CONFIDENT! If you aren't confident in yourself and don't present yourself well because you're worried with how you look, that can hurt you more than anything. Keep your head up, be confident, have fun, and embrace your curves. You got this :)

Seriously, even the house that everyone sees as the "gorgeous girls" actually has girls of all shapes. The house that is stereotyped as "the plain girls" or worse, has some beauties and glamor girls. With chapter size being pretty large, there is more diversity than you might think. it is important to look polished, though. Get help with clothing and hair choices if you need to. That makes you more confident, which is very attractive.

Girl, just be yourself and do your thing!!! There are girls of all shapes and sizes in every chapter. Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and most importantly confident. We want to get to know you as a person, not for what you weigh.

Just be yourself and you'll find your home. I hope you have an awesome recruitment!!! 💕
