Hazing literally isn't a thing for sororities here. My house doesn't and I honestly wish we did. Hazing brings the pledge classes closer together, and it also helps them learn their place and learn respect. But that's just my opinion- but no, none of the sororities here haze.

It was a game of duck, duck goose so it wasn't like it was comparable to what the guys go through.

It's hilarious that Theta has passed around the story that they were just playing duck duck goose. They were observed blindfolding all their new members and making them go on a blindfolded hike. The might have played duck duck goose at some point, but that wasn't what they got in trouble for. There was an investigation and panhellenic discovered more things that weren't allowed that hadn't even been observed by others. That's why they got in trouble. They were hazing. I don't know if they still do, but I do know that they were then.

Chios definitely still haze but I don't think it is anything but fun stuff. PiPhis do too but they are a little more mean about it. Actually they are just mean in general.

So, when you are underage and you drink (I mean, who doesn't) you alone assume the risk and consequence of breaking the law. However, when you haze (and ask pledges to do something they aren't willing to do) it is the entire house that assumes the risk. The national fraternity/sorority also assumes the risk and has to pay $$$ for insurance in case of a lawsuit, etc. If caught, the house is kicked off campus and that cost is very real for the national organization. So, why haze???

They're have been houses in the past that haze. HOWEVER- Panhellenic has really tightened up about hazing so it is not worth it to lose your houses charter. THEREFORE most houses will not haze, and if they do haze you, you need to get in touch with Panhellenic immediately. You should have nothing to worry about though.

If you consider this kind of stuff hazing, then you shouldn't join. We don't want you. Chances are, you won't ever have to suffer from playing duck duck goose. However, this question says that you don't have the resilience that it will take to make it through college. Just sit in your "safe space" and enjoy being a GEED

Theta, you weren't punished for playing duck duck goose. You were punished for hazing. Accept it. Stop with the stupid excuse. The problem was the blindfolds and making the new members wear them while walking around in the park.
You're making your house look worse by constantly repeating the words duck duck goose.

I don't think there is really any hazing anywhere at OSU. I know PiPhis can be really mean and act superior to their freshman but I think it is just typical of who they are as a person(people) vs hazing.
