thinking of quitting my sorority

by: conflicted

(I've only been in a semester) So basically I don't hate my sorority, but I definitely don't love it. I sort of kind of have a group and kind of have friends, but no one that I've talked to all summer. I feel anxious going to events and mixers and almost feel like an outsider. I feel sort of weird paying for something that I don't really like all that much. Should I stick it out? Has anyone been in similar situations?

Aw I wish y’all could connect! It definitely helps to have sisters (in-house or Panhellenic) to figure things out.

That sucks for y’all. Sororities are optional at UD they’re not like a social must have like at southern schools. I mean don’t pay for something you don’t like but let me tell you I’ve been in mine for 1 years and I went through a patch after the “honeymoon” period was over where I felt like a loner and everyone else had people to hang with except me. But I hit my stride eventually and found my people.
It’s about putting yourself out there even once you join and are initiated. I can’t imagine life without my sisters now or after we graduate.

I would recommend giving it one more semester! I felt the same way last year going into junior year, but I ended up finding my people and am so happy I made the decision to stick with it. A lot of my now friends in my chapter went through the same thing. It’s normal to go through up and down periods with anything — that’s life and that’s college. Obviously you should do what’s best for you but I think more girls in your mem class might feel the same way than you know!
