asa informal

by: informal

My friend just got into asa this past few days. Does that mean she went though COB? I thought you had to be on a list and she wasn’t, but I know girls who were on the list and didn’t get anything about informal.

I know for my sorority a girl has to put down your name to be invited to informal. Maybe that’s what she’s talking about?

Yeah that’s a COB. Anything not curing formal recruitment time for sororities is a continuous open bid. Idk about Asa specifically but I will say frats and sororities are private organizations that can choose who they want to join and who they don’t indiscriminately. If they wanted to orgs could chose to take no members during a formal recruiting period they could (that wouldn’t make any sense though because ya know dues and funding). So list or no list ASA can do what they want whenever they want as can any chapter.

So basically even if you're on the list supposedly they still don't have to invite you? I was on the list for alpha phis informal and then got nothing about it but heard that other girls got in that couldn't rush cause their GPA was too low..

Yeah sororities are private organizations they can do whatever they want. With the exception of during formal recruitment period.

them taking girls this late is not really a great sign... for someone for talks about how much their always rising sure doesn't seem like girls love being in the chapter

1. It’s not that late, ddd and dg just wrapped up their informals.
2. As much as I’d love to believe what you’re saying I don’t even know if asa actually did informal invites. Like this post could’ve been a lie made up by someone else to make asa look worse than their self ranks do. I dunno don’t believe everything you read on here.

Ok neat either way chillax. Yeah it’s annoying and I get secondhand embarrassment from all their self ranks but COB isn’t a huge deal. Especially an invite only one. Doesn’t mean a whole lot that they felt like they had to or wanted to bid a few extra girls especially if they know they have a bunch of people graduating early next winter or abroad next fall.

so sororities can have either closed or open informal recruitment. open is like dg and tridelt where they post about it on social media and u cana just go to their events. closed informal is where someone/ ppl in the chapter have to nominate you and then they invite u to an event. ik that sometimes chapters do informal so that they can b more selective w their pc and not have to meet quota

COB is not a bad sign at all ... at least aphi axid gphi all did it this year along with Asa and more chapters have in the pasts semesters as well it’s just don’t to make sure your at campus total self rank cringey but this entire site is cri gey tbh

some sororities like to do cob or closed informal right after rush, like asa and even aphi
other sororities like phi sig and adpi just wait until fall, this isn't going to effect their tier

Cob does nothing to hurt rank from what I know aphi, asa, axid, and gphi all did cob this spring and hear adpi and phi sig are doing in the fall. Basically everyone does it and they make up their own terms for it
