what’s the point?

by:

So I know I’m new here, but I really don’t see a point in joining a sorority. I have friends from home that were in theta and dropped and it seems like their social life has not changed in the slightest. I was never in a sorority her (still a freshman), but I’ve been able to go to every single frat event and I don’t really see how if I didn’t join one this spring how that would change- like at all. It kind of seems like the only real plus is getting so say “yeah I’m in theta” which roughly translates to “yeah I’m hot”. Unless I’m completely wrong here?

widen your circle!! Leadership positions!! Your own date parties!! Test banks!! Access to the house!! Cute merch!! Chapter dinner!! House traditions!! Friends with upperclassmen!! And the reason why the social life hasn’t changed after dropping is becauee you already got to absorb all of the social and academic benefits of being in a sorority. Most of the girls who dropped wouldn’t be friends with each other/friends with the guys if they had never joined a sorority in the first place

You got it. The reason to join a srat would be if you're interested in that type of social life but aren't a) definitively pretty b) the most social cat on the planet. For those girls who would get accepted into the "top" sororities, you're right- whether you're in or not is somewhat irrelevant. You'll never show up at a party and get turned aside.

sorority’s aren’t just for an easier access to frat social events (though they do help). it exposes you to a bunch of amazing girls especially upperclassman who want to be your friend and help you out. yes your social life will be 100% fine and normal without being in one but the sisterhood you can find in a sorority is greater than just partying together

How could you have been to “every frat event” if you are still a freshman @c/o25? Classes literally started two weeks ago. So you went to a couple tailgates? If that’s what you think it’s all about keep hanging with your dimwit theta dropout besties, their performative dropping of the house obv didn’t change their behavior or their values
