Advice for '25 PNMs

So I thought that I'd make this post that way every girl goes into Vanderbilt this fall with the same information that way the playing field is level when it comes to rush.

If there are any Nashville food or tourist accounts or any other seemingly random accounts that request to follow you, it's just older girls in sororities trying to take a look at your Instagram and online presence. Like it or not, you will get judged based on your Instagram and VSCO so make sure there are good photos of you on there.

By all means you should give every single house a chance and talk to the girls in them, but if you happen to want to join Kappa or Theta then you need to be dirty rushing or you don't have a chance. This is something that we obviously can't tell you on campus since it's 'not allowed' but you need to be reaching out to the girls in kappa and theta to start getting lunches with the older girls and letting them get to know you. If they like you then they'll start taking you to events with them and then a bid will pretty much be on lock. It's really important to not come across as a social climber to anyone in Kappa or Theta or else that's a way to loose a bid very quickly.

This part may seem weird, but until you get a bid you absolutely can NOT hook up with any older boys. Trust me, every single year there are girls that are really nice and sweet that get blacklisted from sororities because they happened to hook up with an ex of someone in a sorority or someone that someone in that sorority wanted to get with. I know it sucks, but it's only one semester until you have a bid.

Lastly, avoid 'the five Bs' when talking to girls in sororities: Booze, Boys, Brands, Bibles, and Barack (politics). There will be plenty of time to talk about that stuff once you actually have a bid, but until then, keep it to yourself.
