Some fraternity dude

Greek population: Only 7% of RIT students are involved in Greek life. This is not necessarily a bad thing because once you become a part of Greek life, you will know mostly everyone whose is in it. Greek housing: Below average becuase there are only 6 mansions and three fraternity/sorority dorms. This sucks because we have a total of 28 fraternity/sororities where only 9 of them can get Greek housing. However, most fraternities and sororities would rent houses off campus (try to rent many houses close to each other) and fill them with their brothers/sisters. The upside is that’s extremely cheap and parties can be hosted if the house is suitable to do so. Greek involvement: Above average. When you are part of Greek life, there’s a lot of leadership positions that you will be able to take ahold of internally and externally. Such examples I can give you is student govement, student ambassador, orientation assistant, RA, and major student organizations positions. Social scene: If I was to compare a party hosted by an RIT student (someone who lives in like park point or UC) to one hosted by a fraternity. I would say that the fraternity party would be way more lit. Fraternities know how to start a party Attractiveness: I hate to be bias but an adverage RIT student is a someone who wears cargo shorts or plain colored jeans, long white socks, strange t shirts with logos of video game characters or anime, and has some messy hair with knots in it. If I was to compare an adverage RIT guy to fraternity guys, I say that fraternity guys dress more casual and look more clean. Gender Ratio: It’s mostly guys because there are 18 fraternities and 8 sororities total. Greek hazing: I’m not going to lie about this but some fraternitie/sororities haze and most don’t. What I heard is that these hazing incidents are rather minor and nothing too serious. Greek selection difficulty: There’s a lot of great fraternities and sororities at RIT. The only way you can determine what’s really for you is to rush every single one of them and see which one you fit best to. If you still can’t decide which one to join, take a semester learning more about fraternity brothers or sorority sisters.
