Comment:  Really saddened by the fakeness and non-sisterhood. They do a good job of putting on a show during recruitment but it’s nothing like how they portray it during rush. Girls rush this sorority and hate it because of its cliques and popularity contest/ political driven leadership elections. It’s the same girls rushing, same girls in the recruitment videos, and the same girls speaking. Lots of girls feel overshadowed and not heard or seen within this big sorority. Girls fake being sick during rush because they do not enjoy it. It’s very sad to see new girls rush into the chapter, but end up dropping because they get nothing out of the sorority and all it does is suck you of your money. Date parties aren’t fun, get yelled at during rush, and don’t make any friends because you’re not in one of the exclusive cliques or aren’t big on fraternity events. It’s very disheartening for girls who think they’re going to receive sisters during rush but end up being lonely and wishing they went to a smaller, less popular sorority because the girls are more authentic. The girls in leadership also pick their friends during elections so you have pretty much no chance if you aren’t one of their friends. Lots of girls hate it but keep it because it looks good on a resume. It’s so heartbreaking. Lots of girls also are included in exclusive texting group chats and won’t let others join or only invite other clique members to their Friendsgiving or Christmas parties. Don’t waste your rush experience and be fooled by this fake facade. The good thing I will say is that the alums are great and the sisterhood events can be fun. Plus, they are very involved on campus and enjoy volunteering and being academically successful. Unfortunately there’s more cons than pros for joining. If you don’t do frat parties or don’t live in Callaway freshman year or aren’t a member of the cliques, good luck, you might end up being miserable. DG has the potential to be an amazing and loving sorority with a sisterhood like none other, but has been tarnished over time by the girls recruited and the girls elected into leadership. There are some pretty mean girls in the chapter, but there are also some sweet ones. Again, it has lots to fix, but unfortunately lots of us don’t see it being attended to or fixed any time soon.
