It should be noted that you probably were denied less because of race and more for a lack of respect for their process. AKA's (and most NPHC orgs) do not "rush". Their selection process is quite different and not doing that small research to learn before approaching (even for a newspaper article) is disrespectful to any organization. AKA has a long standing tradition which should be observed properly if you seek membership.
