This isn't how it works at all, except for the part about grades. I think you might've gotten it mixed up with Ole Miss SNU. USM SNU isn't that superficial. There are a lot of outgoing and good-looking guys, but there's also a fair amount of introverted and average looking ones. They look for nice guys with strong personalities and good values who'll contribute to the fraternity and strengthen the brotherhood. They try to avoid self-centered or toxic people. At least from what I've seen.
