There is definitely a difference in a 3.1 GPA and a 3.4 GPA ...while a 3.1 is a VERY respectable GPA it does not allow you to become a member of departmental honor societies or allow membership in other academic honorary groups. A 3.4 will gain membership in these groups (which are very impressive on a resume') and will also allow a sophomore to become a member of the prestigious Shackouls Honors College. The difference in two individuals with a 3.1 and a 3.4 may not seem significant but the difference in 250 girls with a 3.1 vs 250 girls with a 3.4 is significant.
