Girls ask if an active follows them, does that mean a house definitely wants them... Maybe it means they're interested in you and want to see more of your feed this summer. Look at their member feeds, and you should get a sense of what they are after. Appearance and having a good time and being social are important to most sororities. Chances are they don't want to see a million photos of your cat, the kids you babysit and the frappucinos you drank. Hanging out with cool friends, going to the beach, concerts etc.. are more likely to get you noticed. Also, I hate to say it, but the appearance and coolness of your other friends in the pics probably matter too. It isn't that you can't post a picture of your cat, but don't make that the whole thing, also don't take a zillion photos of your fantastic abs and talk about you rocking your body is. If you have a rocking body, you don't need to say anything or post a thousand selfies, we will think you're an idiot. Generally speaking, but you can tell a lot just by looking an insta account -- houses are looking at girls they have interest in, but it doesn't mean they necessarily want you, they just might be trying to figure out who you are. Sense of humor and ability to make others laugh is key too for a lot of sororities, it doesn't get talked about a lot, but it is huge. If you can make others laugh on twitter and insta, this is a good indicator of your likability in general.
