I honestly wonder what the point of the themes are? I think for some of the houses it adds a bit of fun. For others it is obviously part of their marketing strategy. From a marketing point of view I think houses like Phi Mu and Alpha Chi are going with safe themes that make their girls look pretty and well put together. The "looks" or "hot girl" houses are doing a decent job getting that message across too (okay maybe not so much yesterday because the 80s were not kind). And then there are a bunch of houses that just look like they are out having fun with friends (which may have been true yesterday but I suspect it is all getting old at this point for those that were there yesterday too). So, long story short, I think they all win in their special ways. They are getting across to PNMs the types of houses they presumably are, and that is pretty much what you would hope to do right?
