Part of the hate is jealousy and part of it is that ZTA can be annoying. Zeta rushes PNMs who fit their look. Most of those girls are very pretty in a traditional sense. But their sisterhood is impacted by having a house full of beautiful women with fake tans, hair dyed so blonde that it's almost white, 24x7 partying, and not a lot of sisterhood focus. They don't help give greek life a good name, because they perpetuate the sorority stereotype. All that said, my freshman year roommate was a ZTA and she was a sweet person who was so excited to pref Zeta. She wound up dropping out of college later, but loved being a ZTA. She did tell me once that she had hoped to make closer friends while living in the house, but I think that can be true for several sororities at Bama. Zeta is a great house for the right PNM and does not deserve the hate it gets on GR.
