Don't really care about Old Row vs New Row but do know very well the power of networking. Surrounding yourself with involved people with good grades means you are making connections with people who will more likely than not, be successful in the future. These future connections may in the future mean connections to opportunities. In general I think sororities are irrelevant after college. What is not irrelevant is the networking and connections you are making with people in college. To discount that is doing yourself a disservice if you want to be successful in your future career. If your goal is an Mrs. degree, well being in a well thought of sorority really can't hurt you there either. LOL At the end of the day though, Alabama houses are so large, I suspect you are going to have powerful networking opportunities wherever you go.
