Don't be ridiculous, it has always been this way, social media or not. Members have always been expected to not go around saying questionable or negative things about any sorority or member, especially their own. Members caught badmouthing get brought to standards. If a member is writing something that mentions her sorority, or speaking somewhere as a sorority member, she must run it by exec/standards first. Social media is just an extension of that. There are certain activities that you can't participate in wearing your letters. The rules are clear and presented immediately after joining. That's why every sorority has a Standards Board. Look, you can do whatever you want on your own as an independent. But if you want the benefits of association with an organization that has a great rep, you are expected to do your part as a member to maintain the standard and follow the rules that are in place.
