Under release figure methodology, the most popular chapters (those rated highest by the most PNMs the previous year) have to release a greater number of PNMs each round. Thus, if you fall in love with Chapter Alpha that is amazing at recruiting…so did, like, 1999 other PNMs. And they have to release a higher number, so your chances of getting invited back are actually smaller than they would be for a chapter that might not be as great at recruiting. This isn’t necessarily meant to stress out PNMs…it’s just intended to drive home two messages- one, sororities are making the majority of decisions of who is selecting who in recruitment. Two…don’t take it personally when a group that you really liked or really felt like you connected with doesn’t invite you back. It could just be a numbers game. Keep going back to the groups on your list and giving them a chance.
