Your rankings at every round will matter for you if you are one of the pnm's who gets back more invitations than the maximum allowed for that round. In that case your lowest ranked house(s) would drop from your schedule. That is not what the majority of pnm's should expect because most pnm's will experience releases. When you are released from houses, those are eliminated from your list and all your other houses bump up in rank, in order, to give you the most possible houses at every round. That's why you will see houses that weren't your favorite back on your schedule. Give them a chance. Keep in mind: The houses do not know how pnm's rank them and pnm's don't know how the houses rank them, so none of that is a consideration for either. Go back to your low ranked houses with a smile on your face because they want you there and they don't know how you ranked them. And don't assume that being released from a house was personal, and means that they didn't like you or found you unworthy - it was only about the numbers. Pnm's rankings have far more weight after pref during bid matching because if you attend a house's pref you are on their bid list somewhere. The process matches a house's ranked bid list, in order, with all pnm's who put that house at #1 until they reach quota. Pnm's who fall below the quota line, not matching with their #1, will then be in consideration for their #2 house, and if they don't match with that one before it reaches quota, they will be placed at either house as a quota addition.
