This is an OR biased rank for old alumnae and their daughters. No doubt, it is their reality and will never change. For those who don’t know OR from NR without reading GR or having a cheat sheet - it is meaningless. Old row doesn’t mean “old money”, it doesn’t mean wealthier, it doesn’t mean smarter, it doesn’t mean better connected (only better connected in Alabama and certain parts of the Deep South), it doesn’t mean more attractive, or more social, nor more likely to succeed. To me, as an alumnae, it only means “old row” as defined and made distinguished many years ago. Remove the letters and put everyone in a room and talk to them without asking where they are from - and you will never make a distinction.
