With rush coming up soon I’m going to share my experience, not to scare you but to show you that it might not work out in a traditional way. Going into rush I thought I was golden. I was from a neighboring state of bama , had good grades (3.7 uw) 200+ service hours, National honors society, varsity athlete, rec letters, good reputation in my town . All this to say I felt that I would be able to get a bid pretty easily. Through the week I felt like I had good convos, however when the schedule came out every morning, I had had some pretty dramatic cuts compared to my friends. After go Greek I had only been invited back to 5 houses. I stuck with the process, the odds of keeping at least one until bid day was pretty good right? I woke up the morning of pref with a call from my Rho chi that I had been cut from the process and I would not be getting a bid. Both me AND her were confused. I had done all the stuff they had asked me to, kept my medias clean, gotten the grades and not talked about any of “the 5 b’s” but was still cut? I emailed Panhellenic and they said whilst rare, it did happen. Still have never gotten an answer on why. But yk life went on. That semester I made deans list. Still went to sorority events with my friends in their chapters, went out! Had fun , kissed a few too many frat guys (oops) and just overall bettered myself. Come spring rush I got a bid from a house many people consider desirable. All this to say, it might not work out at first but it will eventually
