I mean, a lot of private colleges are up to $80k or more per year these days, and there are plenty of families that are full pay for those...even if you're out of state at Bama with not a lick of scholarship money (pretty rare) it's still "only" $50k...I do get scholarships which bring my cost down to roughly what in-state would be at a school in my home state (NC) but even if I didn't Bama tuition + sorority stuff would still be a downright bargain compared to what my parents pay for my brother to go to Tulane
