I’m a chemistry major. It’s going to take up time a lot of time first semester. My sorority required us to attend certain meetings, sisterhood events and parties. They also had required study hours at the house which I used for studying. In my house, you earn points for everything and you are required to maintain a certain number of points. The first semester is the hardest, by far. However, you have more free time in college than high school because you aren’t in class for 7 hours a day followed by sports practices, etc. so it’s very doable if you manage your time. I took early classes and studied during the day so my evenings were mostly free. I was really tired some mornings because parties happen in the middle of the week but its manageable. The only time I almost lost my mind was during homecoming prep. The pomping requirements alone for pledges in my house was insane and the prep time happens during midterms. My house was ruthless about the requirements. I almost had a nervous breakdown… but I also met my boyfriend that week in a frat we were paired with. Second semester has been much better! I would highly recommend trying it. It’s so fun and I made a lot of friends.
